Start a family tradition or just continue an old one... rent a cottage! Muskoka has a huge number of cottages available to rent all year long, from turn of the century rustic cottages, to million dollar retreats, whatever your taste, renting here is easy.

Cottages will range in price depending on the time of year, length of stay, size, capacity and location. The high season is typically July and August. Autumn during the fall colour change can also be popular so book your rental as far ahead as possible.

Winter is one of the most spectacular times of the year to be in Muskoka, whether for snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, or simply for a romantic weekend getaway, with the added benefit of low season pricing. Don't be afraid to come up in the spring either, March and April offer great pre-insect season weather, and there's always lots going on.

Rental Cottages can be found all over Muskoka, the largest and most popular lakes / areas are Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and, Lake Joseph in central Muskoka, Georgian Bay on the West side, and Lake of Bays to the East. You might pay a premium for renting on these lakes but the benefits of a large lake, especially when you've also got access to a boat can really make the difference when here for a longer stay.

Don't forget though that the smaller lakes are usually less busy, and if you're looking for a quieter relaxed atmosphere, there are literally hundreds of other lakes to choose from.
